The U of M is leading a group of institutions in developing an NSF-funded virtual lab. With Internet2 this resource will be essentially at Augsburg.
According the Daily, it seems like they’ll be building a web portal to run simulations and store data. This is a great opportunity for our Physics department.
An article in the MIT Technology review discusses the growing collaboration among scientists. With Internet2 providing the bandwidth, I believe the nature of scientific collaboration is changing.
